How Did This Start?
VisitSantaOnline.com was founded to give families a modern alternative
to the old-fashioned “trip to see Santa at the mall.”
The site’s founders, Jill and Mike Noonan of Naperville, IL, quite literally came up with the concept
while standing in a 90 minute line to see Santa with his own children
at the mall. “There has to be a better way to do this in this
day and age,” says Mike Noonan.
“After two trips to the mall that week, having my 2 year old
refuse to see Santa at all, and spending a grand total of more than
two hours in line, my oldest child spent about 10 seconds with Santa!
We paid about $30 for the experience to boot!
We said right then and there: Enough is enough!”
Though initially starting as a way to provide relief to families
with “mall fatigue,” it was quickly apparent that this
new interactive experience could greatly benefit families with children
with special needs such as Autism and PTSD, hospital-bound children, and even military families
with parents deployed overseas for the holidays. “How great
will it be for our brave service men and women serving our country
overseas to be able to see their child visit with Santa online?”
Mike Noonan wonders. “Or how cool will it be for families with children
with perception and anxiety issues to be able to share in the magic
of Christmas without all of the chaos at the mall?” adds Jill. Still later
the concept proved to be a boon to those performers who wish to spend
time with children but can’t for health and other reasons. It
is that vision and spirit of helping people in need that has brought
